Arts on Main is an “arts hub” initiative located at 205 S. Main Street. We offer high-quality Artist Work Studios; first-class gallery space as well as classroom and meeting space. Our Main Gallery is on the first floor. Additional gallery space as well as classroom/ meeting space is in the recently-renovated lower level. We provide a terrific venue for seeing art, making art, hosting a special event and appreciating vibrant local artistic talent.
The focus of Arts On Main is to support and promote a variety of artists and works — blending classic with modern, emerging with established, and displaying abstract landscapes alongside representational canvases. We want our clients to discover a connection– souls to be stirred up a bit, and evoke some conversations. We cater to both experienced art buyers and those starting their collections. We will exhibit the work of one featured artist every 6-8 weeks, as well as a regular display of other gallery artists.
Steve Gruber is a fourth generation Elkhart native who spent 25 years of his adult life in other cities (San Francisco, Asheville, Raleigh). In 2008, he returned to Elkhart where he produces the monthly ArtWalk series and founded Arts on Main, a three-level “arts hub” located in the downtown area that features galleries, studios, and event space. His lifelong love of the arts has found focus in advocating for more public art and support of the Midwest Museum of American Art, as well as in avidly collecting local artists’ work and championing the role of the arts in transforming downtown. Steve also authors the community art blog Art Sense on the Elkhart Truth Online.
